Send Pretty Mail #30 - Dots & Stripes

Marking the halfway point of this project, Send Pretty Mail #30 simply had to be a fun one!

This envelope is all business in the front...

Then turn it over and - bam - party in the back! It's kinda circus-y, and I like it!

I wanted to send out one of the washi tape popsicle cards, but didn't want popsicles outside too...

So I grabbed colour inspiration from the card and had some fun making dots. Stripes on the front and the flap add a little contrast (and add to that circus-y appeal).

Add a sweet pack of extra washi tape dots for even more fun (and fanciness).

Put it all together and, voila, a really good mail day for someone!

The Send Pretty Mail Project ... so far:

Have you sent any pretty mail lately?

Want to receive some pretty mail in YOUR mailbox? Send me a note at info@omiyage.ca with your mailing address and a little something about yourself. I'll be making a list and choosing new friends to send mail to each month. And don't worry if you don't hear back from me right away - if you send your info, you should find a pretty piece of mail headed your way some time this year!

  4. Hiya Marisa and Elias :)
For a long time I have been doing some craft and scrapbooking as a simple hobby. Lately I've tried to get more into it and came accross with your blog. I just started exchanging letters with people from my country (Portugal) and I've found so many good ideas here. Also I will definitely e-mail you my address because I really want to receive and send letters to you :)
Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us :)
    Lots of love

  5. I have just found your blog while collecting pins, and love the colorful and fun ways you use to dress up note, letters, old school mail! I will be looking more closely for great ideas. Could I ask about the washi tape dots you included in the popsicle card, whether you have a backing of some sort on them to remove before using rather than the sticky side of washi tape being without a cover? If you mentioned it and I missed it, sorry. What a great idea. Who doesn't like to get something fun in the mail, no matter your age. Thanks for sharing your great ideas. Thanks. Phyllis

    1. Hi Phyllis - if you follow the link to the washi tape dots there's full instructions, but the short answer is yes - use waxed or parchment paper as a sticker backing.

  7. First time to your site and I am hooked! Your ideas are so wonderful. I like sending my grand daughters real mail because they are growing up in a time when their just isn't anything but electronic mail and texting. I will use some of your ideas to dress up the envelopes for them. I know they will love it! Thank you for sharing your talents. Oh, and p.s. I'm sending you my address because I like real mail too!

    1. Sheila, thanks for your kind words. There really is nothing better than a good mail day! I received your address - thank you! I'll add it to my list, though as this was my 2013 project, there is less outgoing mail these days.

  8. I was wondering if washi tape holds up well in the mail. I'm worried that it will pull up in the process. Thanks.

    1. Most washi tape holds up really well in the mail. I've never had a problem with tape pulling up either as a sender or as a receiver. Some tapes are less sticky than others though - I can't speak to all brands of washi tape.
