I don't want to alarm you, but May is almost over (I know right?!!) and that means Father's Day is just around the corner. Around here, any occasion is the perfect occasion for a handmade card!
These clever cards feature fancy folded collars (that's a lie - totally easy folded collars) and simple washi tape shapes. Here's how to make your own...
Gather your supplies:
- Blank card
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Bone folder (optional)
- Washi tape
- Parchment / Waxed paper
- Fine tipped marker / Pen
Do you ever use a bone folder when paper crafting? I love to use one to mark shapes and lines - just as effective as a pencil but no pesky lines to erase!
1. At the top edge of the card, mark the centre point. Cut a straight line approximately 1 inch (25mm) long from the marked point. Fold edges over to create the collar. Crease firmly.
2. Cut a strip of washi tape in half lengthwise. Apply to the card right along the collar folds. Cut excess tape off at card edge.
3. Apply two strips of tape to a piece of parchment/waxed paper, ensuring that the strips overlap slightly and that the pattern lines up (if possible).
4. Cut overlapping washi strips on paper backing into shape of necktie. Carefully peel off of the paper and apply to the front of your card.
5. With your fine tipped marker, add details like buttons and pockets.
