Japanese Folk Toys

Don't you just love these watercolour sketches of traditional Japanese folk toys?

The Ningyo-do Bunko database contains thousands of these images created by artist Kawasaki Koizumi during the Taisho - Showa eras (1877-1942).  A reminder of dwindling traditional arts.

  1. I'm new to your site, but I used the washi tape to use for an Easter Egg tree, I was shopping at our local fabric shop here in Japan, and found fabric tape... have you had the opp to use it yet?

  2. I haven't! Is it the Japanese tape which looks very traditional (chirimen) or something different? Is it fantastic?

Oh how I miss shopping in Japanese fabric stores!
