The Kirigami Project - Week 18 - Pineapples

Happy May! Hard to believe that we're now into the fifth month of this project (and the year!) ... with a third of the designs already revealed, we'd love to know which one is your favourite so far?

Pineapples seem to be the fruit darling of the moment... and why not? Delicious and funny looking; that's a mighty fine combination. Actually, these pineapples were inspired not by the real thing but by these which might just be the best cookies going. We had friends visiting Hawaii last week, and while I was a bit jealous of the sunset beach vistas and tropical weather (I do love a good palm tree), it really just left me with a pineapple-shaped cookie craving.

But, you know what they say... when you can't go to the isle of pineapples, bring the pineapples to you... Okay, I'm pretty sure nobody says that, but these kirigami pineapples are pretty cute anyway!

To create your own kirigami pineapple design, use the template below and the 4-point folding pattern.
What other kinds of fruit would you like to see transformed into kirigami? I think pears would be super cute!

Happy crafting!

The Kirigami Project is a collaborative creative project from Marisa Edghill of Omiyage and Geri Jewitt of The Languid Lion. Marisa creates the kirigami designs and Geri whips them into template shape! Each week In 2014, we will bring you a new kirigami design to fold and cut.
