The Kirigami Project - Week Five - Heartflower

Ugh - February! Am I right? Yesterday was so very February-ish it necessitated a big batch of double chocolate muffins (which still weren't quite chocolatey enough). Anyway, I'm getting off topic.

What I really want to say is that there's just something about February which makes you crave bright colour (and chocolatey carbs). This month's designs are partly inspired by Valentine's Day, and partly by that winter craving for sunshine, flowers and any colour other than white or grey.

For February, we're also turning to the simplest of the folding patterns we'll use (I think) - the 4-Point Fold aka fold in half, fold in half, fold in half again.

This month's first design incorporates oh-so-timely hearts into a simple flower design. Look a little closer and you could also find spades and fountain pen nibs. It's all in the eye of the beholder!

To create your own Heartflower kirigami, use the design below and the 4-Point Folding Pattern.

Happy crafting!

The Kirigami Project is a collaborative creative project from Marisa Edghill of Omiyage and Geri Jewitt of The Languid Lion. Marisa creates the kirigami designs and Geri whips them into template shape! Each week In 2014, we will bring you a new kirigami design to fold and cut.
