We have been keeping a close eye on the labour dispute between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. Today, June 3rd, CUPW has begun 24 to 48 hour rolling strikes, one city at a time.
What does this mean for you and your order? Well, from our understanding, the mail will keep moving everywhere the workers are still working. The rolling strikes may cause some delays in normal delivery times but should not mean a mail stoppage. While we had stopped shipping orders, in anticipation of a strike, we will begin shipping again today. We ship packages daily from Monday to Friday and will continue to do so until a rolling strike is called for Toronto or a widespread Canada Post strike is called.
Should a widespread Canada Post strike be called, we will halt all shipping until workers go back to work. We simply don't want any orders getting misplaced during a potential work stoppage.
If you require fast delivery in the case of a strike, or in any situation really, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for shipping quotes using other carriers (Fedex / UPS).
In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed that the labour dispute is settled swiftly. We, and so many other small businesses in Canada, depend on Canada Post to survive!
